

Mellis Bakir was born in Jersey City, NJ to first generation Turkish, Armenian and Kurdish parents. She was the first in her family to obtain a law degree and graduate Magna Cum Laude. While in Law School, Mellis competed on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Team in Vienna, Austria, and was Managing Editor of Pace Law Review.
Mellis graduated Pace University School of Law in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic, in the top of her class. After receiving her J.D., Mellis went on to work for The Bronx District Attorney's Office where she prosecuted individuals engaging in organized crime, child pornography and animal abuse. Today, Mellis focuses her practice in the areas of complex issues of civil litigation, where she works vigorously to safeguard the rights and well-being of each of her clients.
